Preparing for Surgery

You will be provided with a scheduled surgery date and reporting in time.

Fasting

For General Anaesthetic, nothing to eat six hours prior to your report time at Braemar Hospital. You can have small sips of water up to two hours prior to your report time.

For Local Anaesthetic/IV please check directly with Anglesea OMS.

For local anaesthetic, no fasting is required.

Medications

Take all your regular medications with a small sip of water.

Diabetic patients or those on blood thinners (Warfarin, Aspirin, Persantin, Dipyridamole, Dabigatran, Pradaxa) are to obtain specific advice from their surgeon.

Smoking

It is preferable not to smoke for at least 24 hours prior to surgery.
