Preparing for Surgery
Before surgery, you may need to fast for six hours if under general anaesthetic, with small sips of water allowed up to two hours prior. No fasting is needed for local anaesthetic, but confirm instructions with Anglesea OMS for IV sedation. Continue regular medications with a sip of water, and consult your surgeon if you’re on diabetic or blood-thinning medications.
Avoid smoking for 24 hours before surgery and inform your surgeon of any illness. Ensure you complete all required forms, read your information pack, arrange a responsible caregiver, and confirm your attendance.
