Meet Dr. Angus Colquhoun

Dr Angus Colquhoun is a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with Anglesea OMS Ltd in Hamilton. Angus was awarded his dental degree (BDS) in 1991 at the University of Dundee, Scotland and worked as a House Surgeon at Dundee Dental School before moving to New Zealand to accept a Senior House Surgeon position at the Dental School in Otago in 1994.

Angus held an associate lecturer position at the Dental School in Otago before embarking on the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical training programme, gaining his medical degree (MBChB) and a masters degree (MDS with distinction) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the University of Otago in 2002.

Angus is trained in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery receiving prizes from both the University of Dundee and the University of Otago. Angus gained his surgical fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Dental surgeons in 2005. He held a part time consultant position in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Waikato Hospital until 2020 including tenures as Head of Department and Director of Training.

Professional Achievements and Surgical Specialties

Angus has several publications in peer-reviewed journals both in New Zealand and internationally. He has lectured both locally and internationally as AO CMF faculty. Angus’ particular surgical interests include dentoalveolar surgery and salivary gland disorders as well as orthognathic surgery and placement of dental implants.

Angus is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association and is a former President of the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Branch of the New Zealand Dental Association. He is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
